Starball Origins

Due to rising temperatures and nuclear fallout, Earth has become uninhabitable, and humans have started the race to find a new home.

After decades of searching, contact is finally made with distant exoplanets. Earth’s increasingly desperate calls for help has been answered and the first wave of settlers are provided passage from Earth to a new star system called Ventura Nexus.

Many of the planets in the Ventura Nexus had been engaged in bitter wars for centuries. In an attempt to maintain peace, representatives of the planets that made up the rivalling factions of Celestria and Fangora came together to form a unified council to ensure stability and cooperation between the planets.

The council bring to life an idea of a new inter-planetary sporting competition with the aim of creating new bonds and a sense of unity between the planets. The game is named Starball has one simple rule. Get the ball into the central goal as many times as possible by whatever means necessary.

The aggressive and high-speed game is played on the ground as well as in the air. The game requires strength, speed and a very coordinated attack and defensive strategy. In the new, more peaceful era, former warriors, assassins, mercenaries, released prisoners and attack robots are repurposed to become players in the competition. The most deadly and fearsome warriors from all over the galaxy now go head to head in the Starball Arena.

In return for quick passage to Naron, thousands of volunteers on Earth undergo physical testing and competition to be selected to represent the human race. The team of exceptional athletes was created to compete in the Starball competition, but they have also been tasked to serve as ambassadors for Earth and peacekeepers in this newfound area of space so that over time a safe home can be established there for the next wave of settlers.

The Starball team, led by the charismatic Major Alex Cage, are sent to the new space station on Naron created by the friendly planet of Arion. On Naron the players are acclimatised to playing Starball by creating special purpose battle suits and equipment and training in hostile terrain. The team also recruit part-human alien beings and build fearsome robots to join Earth’s team.

The responsibilities of the team extend beyond the Starball arena. They find themselves entangled in disputes between the planets over mining rights on local moons, cosmic anomalies and many other threats to the delicate balance of peace in the newfound space territories. The previous rivalries between the Celestria and Fangoria planets are still evident and some of the planets see the Starball tournament as a way to showcase their strength and dominance over others.

The story follows the team's dual roles as both Starball players and cosmic heroes. Whether helping to negotiate interplanetary treaties between the planets, thwarting space pirate attacks, or facing challenging celestial events, Alex and the team showcase unparalleled teamwork, bravery, and ingenuity.

The team navigate uncharted territories of space and forge alliances with beings from all over the galaxy. The team not only strives for victory in the Starball arena but also endeavour to defend peace in fragile new home.

Starball explores themes of unity, diversity, and the power of sport to transcend cultural differences. The story weaves together the excitement of interplanetary sport with the intrigue of cosmic rivalry and combat, creating a thrilling and visually stunning fantasy adventure.
